>> [_] Anon 1389999 Faggots should've paid the $75 annual fee
>> [_] Anon 1390007 >># No, people should burn you wuss
>> [_] Anon 1390008 The cheapskates deserve to have their attic flooded since they didn't pay the monthly $57.
>> [_] Anon 1390011 >># They don't deserve anything less than death
>> [_] Anon 1390013 >># Exactly.
>> [_] Anon 1390021 I saw this on the news. RAGE.
>> [_] Anon 1390022 Wait, isn't this shit included in... you know... tax payments?
>> [_] Anon 1390023 Even if they don't have to respond to the people who didn't pay, what about the neighbour who did? They just sat there and waited until the fire caught onto his property before they responded. Its kind of like hiring a bodyguard, then having a crazed gunman stand next to you, and the bodyguard refuses to do anything until the gunman opens fire on you.
>> [_] Anon 1390024 interesting thing about this story is the fire department themselves fought against the 75 dollar fee. The family involved had simply forgotten to pay. The department themselves suggested a lot of ways to make sure no one was in this situation including increasing a tax by only 3 dollars. The municipal government in the area outright refused.
>> [_] Anon 1390036 >># Neighbor could have greatly avoided the fire spreading to his house by soaking his yard and house in water from his hose.
>> [_] Anon 1390040 >># It's upheld by the city, unfortunately federal government doesn't own a nation-wide fire department. It's up to your city or county to decide how to fund their fire departments, so no, it doesn't come from the taxes. He dodged the fee banking that his house would never burn down and lolirony hit him and people raged.
>> [_] Anon 1390045 If I wanted to read about a fucking news story, I'd go to Fark. Thought this was /f/ - Flash.
>> [_] Anon 1390054 >># And lets suppose the neighbour isn't there at the time, or the fire is already getting so out of control it becomes a risk to themselves? They essentially paid their due, to have the fire department knowingly allow a fire to spread onto their property. All in the name of essentially flipping somebody the bird over performing their duties for someone who paid up. Priorities straight fucked-up there.
>> [_] Anon 1390057 >># >># Where exactly does it say the neighbor's house sustained damages again? I think I missed that part.
>> [_] Anon 1390058 >># Nowhere. I was merely stating that the neighbor didn't have to worry as much as the person I was replying implied. There are things they could have done to reduce any risk of the fire taking hold of their house as well.
>> [_] Anon 1390060 >># I'm not disagreeing, I just think it's a little off-topic.
>> [_] Anon 1390062 >># "It wasn't until fire spread to a neighours property, that anyone would respond" Its fire, bitch. If it is on fire, it is already fucking damaged. The fact remains that even if they acted quickly, they still willingly and deliberately allowed it to cause damage to somebodies property, who paid the fee. "Well gee, at least they put it out after it only blackened one end of the house" nothing. I don't give a shit if all that got burned was the fringe of the lawn. Somebody paid their due, and was put in second-place to flipping somebody the bird.
>> [_] Anon 1390064 >># Uhm, no, the opening post had no topic other than "Look at this." A text document in /f/, no less. The topic is whatever we make of it.
>> [_] Anon 1390068 >># herp derp >It was only when a neighbor's field caught fire, a neighbor who had paid the county fire service fee, that the department responded. You haven't ever been to a rural area, have you. Most people yards are significantly larger than suburbia, and a field is significantly larger than a yard.
>> [_] Anon 1390071 >># What if the neighbor had shot the FD's chief. Would he then inherit the power to stop the fire?
>> [_] Anon 1390074 >># durpa durp They still let that shit reach and damage his property instead of y'know, preventing it when they should have.
>> [_] Anon 1390076 >># I don't really think that's an issue. I mean it's hard to put out a fire that's not there yet. They probably don't have access to retardants and the like. It's more the neighbor's fault for being a dumbass and not paying the fee. However, I gather that it's not a required law to pay the fee so this is the only enforcement they have.
>> [_] Anon 1390081 >># Uh, then thats why you supress/fight the fire wherever it is near to other properties? Because fire doesn't just teleport, y'know. Christ, I hope you're just trolling.
>> [_] Anon 1390085 I saw this on the news. The elderly couple who'se house burned hadn't received their retirement checks, yet, when the payment came due. They were waiting on thier check in order to pay the fee, which they always did. What that town in Tennessee is illegal under US Federal law and you can bet that whole county's going to be dragged into a civil suit because of this. I hope the old couple wins, too!
>> [_] Anon 1390090 >># You're speaking in hypotheticals that didn't happen. They protected his property as soon as it got out of hand.
>> [_] Anon 1390092 That's just life. They should have been responsible and paid the annual fee.
>> [_] Anon 1390093 WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS TOTAL FAILURE IN FLASH??? THIS IS NOT A NEWS SITE, AND I WAS GOING TO CALL OP A MAJOR FAG, BUT EVERY STUPID NEWFAG FAGGOT MOTHER FUCKER COMMENTING ON THE STORY HERE IS JUST AS FUCKING BAD. HOLY FUCK YOU ALL ARE RETARDED MOTHER FUCKERS!! (caps lock for cruise control and rage expression.)
>> [_] Anon 1390095 >># some people find politics entertaining. If you'd prefer, I could flood gay furry from swfchan.
>> [_] Anon 1390100 >># while true of those responsible to law whats in question here isn't that. it's whether this is an appropriate means of enforcement, and while it sounds good on paper, I don't think it would last long to burn peoples houses down because they didn't pay 75$ a month to the state.
>> [_] Anon 1390105 >># excuse me, to *allow* peoples houses to burn.
>> [_] Anon 1390109 woot f451 baby! CLEANSE IT WITH FIRE
>> [_] Anon 1390115 >># If people knew the fire department would come to the rescue of their homes regardless of whether or not they paid the fee, then very few people would, and then the system would be underfunded and hurt. The reality is, we can never just assume that big nanny government will take care of us. Do you think the first fire departments where free enterprises? Think again, they didn't used to call them companies for nothing.
>> [_] Fire Fighter !tr.t4dJfuU 1390117 If you don't pay car insurance and run into a tree then you are shit out of luck. Why is this any different? Fucking bleeding heart fagots need to realize this this is a Privilege Not a right, be safer you cheap shit heads.
>> [_] Anon 1390133 I think we can all agree this is a worst case scenario. Ideally, the city would have had fully incorporated the area into the protection of the rural areas. If they chose to levy a fee, enforcement should have gone beyond letting property burn, be it with a heavy fine or even jail time. This was not the way to handle the situation, but all parties involved did what they were supposed to. The FD was not supposed to put out the fire, and the owners were supposed to have paid their fee. The laws should be changed, but guess who's job that is. It's not the fireman's.
>> [_] Anon 1390146 so much /lit/ in my /f/
>> [_] Anon 1390155 Sooooooo... If I don't pay the fee, the 911 emergency operator will simply hang up on me. If I don't pay a fee, the police will just watch as I get raped in the street. If I don't pay a fee, even a passing good Samaritan will leave me to bleed to death. That is where absurd laws like this will turn up. That is not to say that public services should not be paid...by all means, they should, for they are underfunded as is...but they should be regulated through taxes, not by subscription. If taxes were raised for that purpose, then I would have no problem paying the higher taxes.
>> [_] Anon 1390157 >># even if you have car insurance, unless you can afford P&P, you won't get shit if you hit a tree. (except a raise in your premiums, lol)
>> [_] Anon 1390169 NO GODS OR KINGS. ONLY MAN
>> [_] Anon 1390191 >># dood, if someone says i'm arguing that jesus doesn't exist stop talking to me about buddhism. L2argue. I'm talking about a completely different issue, while your point is valid, it isn't what I or the article was focusing on.
>> [_] Anon 1390192 >># Do it!
>> [_] Anon 1390197 So your telling me they took the time to register the addresses of those who paid and those who didn't and I'm guessing they check those addresses before they leave the fire department. Wait a minute doesn't seconds count when your shit is burning!?
>> [_] Anon 1390211 >># another interesting point, this article and or situation feels odd. I further inquire the possibility of such documents being made public, and the threat of arson.
>> [_] Anon 1390212 >># good change of pace, politicfags should invade /f/
>> [_] Anon 1390215 >># No, more like it's pre-filed in the computer, and when a dispatcher puts the address in a house, the flag stating that pops up on his / her screen. I used to work for Comcast, shit like this happened with people and "why their cable was cut"
>> [_] Anon 1390218 >># puts the house's address in the system or when it comes up via caller-ID esque feature. Same person. Just too tired to Engrish properry.
>> [_] Anon 1390219 >># >># /r/ing hacker anon to access database of those without fire protection and post here.
>> [_] Anon 1390222 >># Insofar as which state / town / etc? Also hacking it would be worth federal time and not worth it as you would never read it.
>> [_] Anon 1390223 >># Yeah, if the people of the county paid for it to work like that.
>> [_] Anon 1390231 WHO THE FUCK LET THE FARKERS IN HERE? GO BACK TO FARK AND LET US /F/TARDS FAP IN PEACE YOU SELF IMPORTANT, ASSFUCKING, CUMSLOBBERING COCKFAGS.
>> [_] Anon 1390235 Yo /f/ Imma let you finish but I just wanted to say that FARK invented the Rickroll and you all know it.
>> [_] Anon 1390236 >># So...you want me to gayfur?
>> [_] Anon 1390237 >># I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK ABOUT WHO INVENTED THE RICKROLL, GET THE FUCK OFF /F/ SO I CAN GO BACK TO THROTTLING MY COCK AT FURRY LOLI PORN YOU DICKBAGGING TITEATING NAZI JEW DOUCHEBAG. ALSO, I'M STUCK IN CRUISE CONTROL AND I CAN'T TURN IT OFF.

>> [_] Anon 1390240 >># ACTUALLY I AM QUITE LUCID. I JUST ENJOY YELLING OBSCENITIES TO MAKE THE 40 YEAR OLD ARMCHAIR POLITICIANS FROM FARK GO AWAY. AT THIS POINT, I'M KEEPING THE CAPS ON MOSTLY FOR COMEDIC EFFECT. ALSO, DICKBITING BONERBAITING CUNTFISTING ASSEATING SHITBALLED DYKESLUT.

>> [_] Anon 1390244 >># WTF DON'T YELL AT ME. I HAVE A VERY SENSITIVE PSYCHE AND DO NOT RESPOND WELL TO CRITICISM.
>> [_] Anon 1390245 >># AND QUIT CALLING ME NAMES!
>> [_] Anon 1390249 >># WHO ASKED YOU SHITHEADED WHORESON?
