>> [_] Bidoof 1390283 Go Emmiline, level 7 Half-Orc Regen Bard! Stall the enemy to death, ha-ha! BTW: Is Dark Cave good for level 7?
>> [_] Anon 1390285 >># Nobody knows anymore since 2.0. Would have been excellent in 1.0
>> [_] Anon 1390290 god damnit its a staff not a stick (or a lance if youre a mounted class) get some fucking self respect adventurer
>> [_] Bidoof 1390297 >># Should I go grab 1.0 and post it? It seems to be the more popular version.
>> [_] Anon 1390305 sten disapproves (-100000000)
>> [_] Anon 1390307 >># It's not really the more popular version I don't think, the improvements in the newer ones really make a lot of difference for a lot of classes. 1.0 was pretty awful unless you were a spellcaster. It's just that back then when we didn't have daily updates we used to have 300+ post threads and a lot more discussion, so all reference values are from back then.
>> [_] Anon 1390309 priest is not the class I was expecting it to be...
>> [_] Bidoof 1390310 >># The only thing I hate about the newer versions is how little exp you get compared to the older ones. It takes way longer now to level.
>> [_] Anon 1390314 >># Smite only works if you also have Fireball (no, really. I don't really know what the developer was thinking there, but that's how it is). When it activates, Priest is arguably one of the best classes now.
>> [_] Anon 1390317 >># Leveling up was even slower in 1.0, though. Level 9 was considered high back then, dudes with successful level 13 characters were revered as gods. Something like 1.5-1.9 are the fast ones and 2.0 is "late level oriented" or some shit so it's insanely fast and practically a different game.
>> [_] How to specialize your character: a tutorial Helpful Anon !jEESjgUSBw 1390325 1. What is specialization? - Your character will tend to level up one skill more than the others. While barely noticeable at lower levels, at later levels the difference will be enormous with that one skill multiple times higher than others. This is called a "focus" or specialization. It is generally thought to be a hidden variable of your character. - There are also a couple of secondary foci which are skills your character will tend to keep at a higher level than others, but not as high as the specialization. These will end up being about 2x as high as your other skills. They are generally not considered important.
>> [_] How to specialize your character: a tutorial Helpful Anon !jEESjgUSBw 1390327 2. How do I select my character's specialization? 1) Non-spellcasters (all except bard, priest, wizard and necromancer) - Depending on your class, between 30% (Archeologist) and 99% (Rogue) of the time your character's specialization will be one of the skills he starts with. This is extra easy for class/race combinations that start with only one skill. Just reroll until you start with the skill you'd like to specialize in. You can branch into a few to be sure, which is extra useful for the Archeologist (detailed later).
>> [_] How to specialize your character: a tutorial Helpful Anon !jEESjgUSBw 1390329 2) Spellcasters. This is trickier - your character will often only level up his specialization later and it may very well not be one of the skills he started with. Here's a good method: - Reroll your character until you start with good skills, including one you'd like to specialize in. This is so you can see progress in that skill early on and don't have to wait until later for it to show up - a matter of convenience. - Go to town. Branch your character (refresh so the game saves, open the game up in multiple windows, load save) into 10 or more copies. - Wait until level 2. Close those copies which haven't progressed in the focus. Select those which have progressed the most. Branch into 10.
>> [_] How to specialize your character: a tutorial Helpful Anon !jEESjgUSBw 1390330 - Repeat at level 3. At this point it's very likely you can see what the focus is already. Branch into 3-4 to be sure. Remember, the game only saves when you close window or refresh, so if all copies start focusing on something stupid, just open a new window before closing them and refresh to overwrite your save. - To select secondary foci if you desire, you can apply the same method. You'll usually need to keep branching until at least level 5 until you can identify the secondary foci at a reasonable level of confidence. That's it! You can now have the character of your dreams with very little labor. Hope this was useful.
>> [_] Anon 1390332 Twinking and grinding: the game
>> [_] Anon 1390340 >># >># >># >># Thanks, just selected for a fireballin' priest. Can confirm smite does a fuckton of damage at least with this configuration.
>> [_] Anon 1390342 I don't reroll, ever. Started with a Necromancer who knew Regeneration and Bone Armor. Going to be hard as fuck to kill.
>> [_] Anon 1390346 >># >I don't reroll, ever - Anon before his level 5 necro suddenly forgets the whole questing thing and decides he has always wanted to be a hypnotist, gets 10 levels of Hypnosis
>> [_] Anon 1390348 Yea im with the guy who doesn't reroll. I want my character to be awesome! And for them do it themselves... Damn if I felt like actually doing something I would play a game.
>> [_] Anon 1390349 The greatest challenge is finding a build that can MAINTAIN momentum past level 20, not just speed through the early levels. My bets are on Forseeing Priests and Fireball Necros (and possibly Knights) at the higher levels, my Learning Wizard is failing miserably after reaching level 19 in like a day.
>> [_] Anon 1390350 >># If you want more data: He currently has Learning at level 3493, which means he gets insane amounts of EXP. He also has a very high Quickspell which means he spams the everliving fuck out of spells. He's godlike as long as his mana reserves last... which is a few seconds at best. After that, he just can't make the enemies at Ancient Pyramid or Deep Sea Cave die, and they usually still have about half their HP left at that time. It takes him about 5 minutes to kill a single enemy. It just doesn't work, he's basically stuck. He was WAY faster than my knight before, but now I'm thinking if I had kept running my knight, he would probably have caught up already because he was always doing more damage with his strikes. Tricky game is tricky.
>> [_] FlashFox !fKW02mC6ts 1390365 PUT THIS SHIT IN THE ADDRESS BAR AND HIT ENTER TO ACTIVATE IT THIS MAY OR MAY NOT BREAK YOUR GOLD MINE IS NOW LIKE 1293123981234 OR SOMETHING BUT THAT'S THE POINT javascript:document.embeds[0].SetVariabl e("Gold", 10000); POST THESE INTO THE ADDRESS BAR ON THE TAB THE GAME IS RUNNING HIT ENTER AND THEY GO INTO EFFECT ALL OF THE FOLLOWING STATS ADD A 0 ONTO THE END SO 100 IS REALLY 1000 javascript:document.embeds[0].SetVariabl e("Str", 100); javascript:document.embeds[0].SetVariabl e("Con", 100); javascript:document.embeds[0].SetVariabl e("Dex", 100); javascript:document.embeds[0].SetVariabl e("Cha", 100); javascript:document.embeds[0].SetVariabl e("Str", 100); javascript:document.embeds[0].SetVariabl e("Int", 100); javascript:document.embeds[0].SetVariabl e("Wis", 100);
>> [_] FlashFox !fKW02mC6ts 1390367 These only work DURING A BATTLE and don't actually affect anything else but that battle. Never lose a battle again! javascript:document.embeds[0].SetVariabl e("Health", 10000); javascript:document.embeds[0].SetVariabl e("Mana", 10000); You can change the number in any of these, btw. These break pretty much everything. Set it well over your level and your level just starts adding a 1 on the end and becomes ridiculous nonsense I reccomend you leave Level alone, and don't put too much in EXP. In making myself ridiculously overpowered my quest soon was 'kill 2010 skeletons' javascript:document.embeds[0].SetVariabl e("Exp", 10000); javascript:document.embeds[0].SetVariabl e("Level", 100); That should be everything you need to break the hell out of this game
>> [_] Anon 1390368 Okay, my 3 branches of a fireball priest are dispersing a lot. One is at level 7.9, one is at level 7.4 and one is at level 7.0. Strange... the one at 7.9 seems to have bought a LOT more spellbooks than the others and has much more spell levels.
>> [_] Anon 1390373 >># i has question does the rogue is intended to atack always with sneak atttack? or is a bug and it would only be the fisrt attack of every fight?
>> [_] Anon 1390374 >># Anon is probably not the author of this game, the maker used to post as "OP!tripcodegoeshere" before releasing Final... but it's probably intended. Rogues always sneak attack instead of attack and that has been so since 2.0 betas
>> [_] Helpful Anon !jEESjgUSBw 1390383 Quick guide to the character classes of v. Final. Format: Class - Class Skill - Strength - Remarks Part 1: Melee classes. Knight - Power Attack - Largest STR gains in the game coupled with a high DEX - Hits hard, hard to kill. Probably the best rounded of the melee classes. Paladin - Power Attack - Gets more spells than the knight at the cost of STR. Highest CON, high CHA - Extremely hard to kill. Most players keep away from this class because it used to suck in 1.0. Ranger - Sneak Attack - High STR, high DEX, has access to Sidearms - Sidearms and sneak attack make him a much more offensive character than the other melee classes, and make him advance faster at lower levels. He also gets a lot less HP due to not having a mount. Underplayed class, there are few high level rangers out there.
>> [_] Helpful Anon !jEESjgUSBw 1390385 Archeologist - Scoundrel's Luck - Gets a lot of spell levels at the expense of everything else. Has access to sidearms - A mix of fighter and spellcaster. Scoundrel's Luck means he gets a lot more gold than other classes early on. Another underplayed class.
>> [_] Helpful Anon !jEESjgUSBw 1390391 Part 2: Spellcasters Wizard - Quickspell - Gets more spell levels than the other casters (?) - Quickspell increases spell casting rate, making the Wizard a very offensive caster. Suffers from mana problems as a result. Considered best class in game by many. Necromancer - Bone Armor - Gets a high number of spells. Has access to totems - The combination of a high amount of spell levels and the extra mana granted by totems makes the necromancer arguably the most well-rounded of the caster classes. Traditionally the "second best" class in the game. Priest - Holy Smite - High WIS - Gets much more mana than the other caster classes, even the necromancer. Only class to use WIS offensively. Smite is a stronger, faster fireball. Underplayed class due to getting extremely few spell levels in earlier versions compared to other casters.
>> [_] Helpful Anon !jEESjgUSBw 1390392 Bard - Bard Song - High CHA - Another mix of fighter and caster like the Archeologist. The Bard is more caster than fighter, while the Archeologist is more fighter than caster. Bard song slows enemies, makes the bard attack faster and do more damage and often makes him almost impossible to kill if he has regeneration. Gets fewer spell levels in exchange. Always gets better gear at the same level than other classes due to discounts. Underplayed class, used to be worst class before 2.0 due to hitting momentum problems around level 10.
>> [_] Helpful Anon !jEESjgUSBw 1390396 Part 3 - Ranged classes Rogue - Sneak Attack - Insanely high DEX, extremely fast attack speed, access to sidearms - Relies on his fast attack speed instead of STR for damage, relies on dodge instead of HP and armor for defense. Gets fewest spell levels of all classes save maybe the Knight. Uncanny ability to survive against stronger foes, speeds through the early game, yet usually considered an "average" class. Cowboy/Cowgirl - Trick Shot - ??? - Strengths are unknown even though there are many people who play this class. Has access to Mounts making him very resilient. Trick Shot uses "tricky things" to give bonus damage to regular attacks.
>> [_] Helpful Anon !jEESjgUSBw 1390401 Also, I made this quick reference chart because I'm helpful. Tell me what you think. http://img546.imageshack.us/img546/8048/ idlequestcharacterclass.png
>> [_] Anon 1390404 Good work anon, Ima do spells. God tier: Learning, Fireball, Smite, Sneak Attack High tier: Regeneration, Power Attack, Scoundrel's Luck, Quickspell, Concentrate Mid tier: Resistance, Forseeing Low tier: EM, Quicken, Teleport, Sixth Sense Shit tier: Bone Armor, Hypnosis Actually makes your character worse tier: Poison Oh god just kill me now tier: Ice Arrow
>> [_] Anon 1390406 >># >># Opinions opinions opinions
>> [_] Anon 1390413 >># Hey, poison and ice arrow used to be considered pretty solid choices for spells before the odyssey into twinking that was versions 1.5-Final. Now everybody is all like, omg my 1 day lvl 29103 char is not killing things in 1 hit wth?!? lol u shuda branchevolvererolled him until he gets 50 wis the first 5 levels m&&& & gnomes suxx
>> [_] Blade and Soul 1390415 Johnson the level 4 wizard reporting in so far it seems i've focused on concentration for +int stat and level 3 learning, level 2 heal, level 2 foreseeing, level 1 fireball, level 4 quick spell
>> [_] Anon 1390417 >># If you really want to powergame, you should branch your character into 2-3 copies just before level up anyway, to make sure you get the best evolving variant. They usually show some hard to predict difference after a while. Of course, it does sort of kill the mood.
>> [_] Anon 1390418 >># Yeah, despite what anon says, Concentration at least used to be a better focus than fireball, because the +int gives you that much more damage.
>> [_] Blade and Soul 1390419 >># im hoping that with the +int it'll reduce the mana cost on fireball since the fireball will be lower level if it isn't focused on and it will do more damage because of the +int focus and quick spell will be of more use with fireball with it being lower level at least it sounds good in theory anyway i'll see what happends
>> [_] Anon 1390420 >># Yeah, it sounds workable. You could also have gone for a +wis focus to spam for longer (I don't think anyone has tried that yet or at least posted about it), but we'll see what happens.
>> [_] Blade and Soul 1390421 >># right now it seems with only 14 mana i can use level 1 fireball only 3 times hopefully this will increase with time
>> [_] Anon 1390424 >># Report back on how it goes.
>> [_] Blade and Soul 1390426 >># Im usually around but incase idlequest isnt posted for awhile my email is blade.andsoul@hotmail.com i've got msn as well under that name
>> [_] Anon 1390428 This game is such derp
>> [_] Anon 1390431 We need more data on above level 15 characters. It seems like very different characters are good there than the types that are good early on. Rogues start sucking around level 8 after dominating until then, Wizards start sucking at high levels after dominating levels 8-15 and nobody knows anything else.
>> [_] Anon 1390433 I'ma roll a Fireball focus High Elf Bard. Bard class seems to be plagued by the AI using sucky spells instead of high powered song attacks so that should keep that in check.
>> [_] Blade and Soul 1390434 >># i had a level 18 necromancer during 1.6 lol dont think that really helps though
>> [_] Anon 1390437 Oh jeez, after working on a LONG quest in the battlefield, i sold thousands of gems, pushing me over into the exponentials in gold. Lv 18 Priest specializing in learning (currently 1628) wis 5000+
>> [_] Anon 1390440 Great, now im stuck past the end, killing ninja undefineds, and dying instantly. lv 18 priest learning spec
>> [_] Anon 1390445 >># You'll usually bounce back after dying enough times. OP said he was going to make a version where going past The End makes you win the game to take care of that (but he hasn't posted) so you could consider yourself a winnar I guess - although it happened in a stupid way. How's the killing for a high level priest? One-shots?
>> [_] Anon 1390451 List in order of strongest: Trick Shot ?> Attack!! > Power attack > Attack > Sneak Attack Smite

>> [_] Anon 1390485 I had a gnomish cowgirl who would do 1000+ damage with level X trickshot but would insist on doing 20 damage level II fireballs until her mana ran out. Reeeally frustrating.
