>> Aedako 21069 /r/ locked files The method I've found for removing the site locks on files seems to be working reliably on all versions of Actionscript, and I'm on track to implement it in Flashbulb, but just to be sure I'm interested in any files you guys know of that are locked to specific websites. The more sophisticated the protection scheme, the better. Files that I know of: Gyossait, Rhythm Doctor, Aching Dreams, anything by Adam Phillips (Bitey of Brackenwood series). The one file I haven't been able to beat so far is Robokill, which apparently dials home to check the player's email against a list of registered users. Everything else is pretty basic, just "if(flash_url != my_url)do_something_obnoxious();". Sometimes repeated 100 times throughout the file. If all goes well it'll be in Flashbulb and released within a few days. [IMG] GyossaitFull.swf (16.99 MiB) 720x450, Compressed. 2 frames, 24 fps (00:00). Ver10, AS3. Network access: Yes. Text: Yes. Bitmaps: Yes. Audio: Yes. Video: <METADATA> [find in archive]
>> Anon 21073 Cool, nice work. I seem to remember vvvvvv.swf being domain-locked, though there is a version that works on 4chan: http://swfchan.com/16/79010/?vvvvvv_beta 1_4chan_release.swf Been wondering if that was a hack or if the creator made that 4chan-enabled version himself. The flash seems to also work on swfchan so maybe it just checks if the URL has "chan" in it?
>> Aedako 21079 >># Oh right. That one definitely wasn't the author -- he had a meltdown when it happened, because it was virtually the full version of a game he was planning on selling. distractionware.com/blog/2009/12/final-p ush
>> Anon 21101 As far as I remember, Burrito Bison 2 is also sitelocked to kongregate, like most of their newer games supposedly.
>> Anon 21109 >># >December 7, 2009 at 6:56 pm >VVVVVV got leaked on 4chan :( I’m really, really shaken up about it and I don’t know what the hell I’m going to do. Nothing, I guess. There’s nothing I can do. I’m pretty upset. >I’m going to try to finally get the game out for the end of the week. With moving and everything I’m a bit behind schedule >sorry, I don’t know what else to say right now >[edit] I’m changing the donation conditions – beta access is no longer available, and the patron list is final. If you still wanna preorder though, that’s fine. I’m working as fast as I can to get this out. nice bit of history there. 5.5 years ago, time flies. quoting that post since a blog post that old might suddenly disappear one day
>> Aedako 21154 It seems that whoever hacked http://swfchan.com/16/79010/?vvvvvv_beta 1_4chan_release.swf did it by changing the URL to just the filename, making it so the game will load when on any website as long as it has that exact name. But only when online -- it can't be played locally. Ironically, my lock detection misses it because it doesn't actually include a URL. Not going to worry about it since there's a properly cracked v1.2 at http://swfchan.com/26/127730/?vvvvvv_ful l.swf (though it won't work in embedded mode here). The AS1/2 unlock function is working great in Flashbulb, currently working the bugs out of the AS3 one. Only failure I've had with the AS1/AS2 one is on http://swfchan.com/4/18516/?Bitey_Castle _-_Brackenwood_-_Part_1_-_LittleFoot.swf , which unlocks but inexplicably thinks my Flash player is below version 8. Burrito Bison 2 (AS3) unlocks fine.
>> Aedako 21185 Turns out Littlefoot wasn't my fault, but incompetent coding on the part of the author. The version is returned as a string, which he took the first digit of, so "18.0.0.194" is considered to be version 1. The file only worked until Flash 10 came out. Buuut it turns out Burrito Bison Revenge only unlocks for local play. I'm going to have to properly implement Actionscript 3 decompilation to get newer files to work in a reliable way. The latest version of Flashbulb is up if anyone wants to experiment with it. www.xeloh.com
