[_] How to use the flash board ta-kun 3456713 Hello, welcome to the flash board Browsers have officially kill switched the flash player online Currently, the embed function does not work on /f/, it is planned to be implemented in the future through ruffle 1)You can still download the flashes and play them locally, however, most people want to view them first before putting them on their pc. 2)You can view those submissions on swfchan through ruffle. 3)You can also use ruffle as an extension, it is planned act exactly like flash in the browser. 1)downloading locally If you are having trouble downloading a flash, try a different browser, try to save link as instead of clicking it, or try to save the flash from the page source, you can find out more on wikihow. Flashes are not harmful to your device, /f/ is a trustworthy source, you can dismiss the message and get your flash. 2)Viewing embed through swfchan: >go to swfchan.com >look up the name of the flash you are trying to view on /f/ >to make sure you are viewing the right thing check if the wiki threads lead to the current thread >click on one of the known names >select "use ruffle for playback" >get file >enjoy your flash 3) using ruffle as an extention If you are interested in using ruffle as an extension please check the discord and github of the development for more details. >Does ruffle perfectly work like flash? currently ruffle only supports up to AS2 and is missing certain features such as the blending modes and effects. >video in flashes should work fine >anything that doesn't have code should probably work fine >any game until 2007, and a lot of games up until about 2015 should work fine >animation should work fine as long as it doesn't have AS3 elements in it Follow the ruffle development: https://ruffle.rs/ How to download flashes (if you can't just click them or save the link): https://www.wikihow.com/Download-SWF-Fil es Marked for deletion (old).
>> [_] Anon 3456719 So how long have you been on /f/ ta-kun? New or have you browsed as Anon before?
>> [_] ta-kun 3456723 >># I lurked a little in 2018 sometime, but I only started hanging out in 2019. I was barely here for the last few months. I was working on a few projects and didn't go online much.
>> [_] Anon 3456724 >># >If you are interested in using ruffle as an extension please check the discord and github of the development for more details. this isn't much help
>> [_] ta-kun 3456730 >># BIG UPDATE! You can watch embed by rolling backwords your pc time. It works perfectly normal. I am expecting that in the future they will remove it entirely, but for now you can still change your date to before the 12th and it works. >># Pardon. I have yet to look too much into it myself, I just know it is possible since I heard it talked about on the server. They aren't saying anything about it yet because there's probably still nothing concrete. I wanted to include it for anyone who wanted to look more into it.
>> [_] ta-kun 3456732 For the sake of keeping all the info in one thread I will post this here as well How to defuse the timebomb in flash Use a hex editor to search for the hex string: 00 00 40 46 3E 6F 77 42 And replace it with: 00 00 00 00 00 00 F8 7F THE SIX FILES YOU NEED TO CHANGE ON WINDOWS ARE IN THE FOLLOWING TWO DIRECTORIES: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash (32-bit flash on 64-bit only) FILENAMES: Flash32_32_0_0_###.ocx (ActiveX: IE / IrfanView version) Flash64_32_0_0_###.ocx (ActiveX: IE / IrfanView version) NPSWF32_32_0_0_###.dll (NPAPI: Firefox / Palemoon version) pepflashplayer32_32_0_0_###.dll (PPAPI: Chrome/Chromium/360/Edge version) OCX files are write-protected so you will need to rename and copy, or take ownership of them as required. Shout out to>># for the post
>> [_] Anon 3456736 I downloaded 32.0.0.371, but if I right click a flash in chrome it says "learn more about flash 32.0.0.465. How do I get chrome to use the earlier version?
>> [_] ta-kun 3456737 >># You revert the time bomb by reverting your clock backwards. https://gyazo.com/becc06d984d35f220e9c96 50af69aa68 As long as you revert it to before the 12th it should work
>> [_] Anon 3456747 >># >Currently, the embed function does not work on /f/ Works for me.
>> [_] Anon 3456748 Okay faggots. Here's what you need to know. Adobe Flash Player browser plugins versions AFTER v32.0.0.371 have a killswitch that will activate January 12th 2020. After this date, the Flash Player plugin will actively prevent itself from playing SWF files in your browser. However, there is a way around this. Below is a download link to a combined archive of several different 32.0.0.371 installers. Pick the one you need and install it, then go into Flash's settings and disable automatic updates. Congratulations, you can now continue using the Flash Player plugin to watch Flash files on your web browser. https://archive.org/download/flashplayer archive/pub/flashplayer/installers/archiv e/fp_32.0.0.371_archive.zip You'll need to use an offline installer. Otherwise it'll outright tell you you're not installing the latest version and cancel. For most Windows users that will be "flashplayer32_0r0_371_win.msi" I'm afraid I can't help Mac or Linux users, but they probably already know what they're doing anyway. There are, of course, alternatives. Flash's own standalone projectors do not have the killswitch. You can download SWFs and run them in these projectors directly off your hard drive. You can set up file associations to have the SWFs automatically open in the projector. You can also put in an URL to run SWFs directly from the internet without having to download. It can be found in the above URL as files with "_sa" in the filename. Windows Example: flashplayer32_0r0_371_win_sa.exe There's also Ruffle, which is still in development, and there's even a version that doesn't require you to install any browser plugins but but is run on-demand from sites that implement it, but it isn't quite finished yet and some flashes will break. Some Flash games are published as standalone projectors and are safe from the killswitch.
>> [_] ta-kun 3456749 >># If you pc date is before the 12th you are still fine. Ohio to bawaii should still all have flash Btw, once again, you can revert your time after it changes and flash would work again for now. >># Thank you, /f/riend! Keep fighting the good fight
>> [_] ta-kun 3456750 (you) remember to revert your time to before the 12th for a temporary fix and download the older flash or tweak current flash for a permanent fix
>> [_] Anon 3456751 Alright anons, I deleted my current flash software and installed 32.0.0.371. It's about to hit midnight here so I'll see you on the other side. I'm not going to lie, my heart is pounding.
>> [_] Anon 3456752 >># STILL ALIVE! I fight for /f/ for another day.
>> [_] Anon 3456754 Wolf Girl Liru just doesn't work anymore, my heart is fucking broken
>> [_] ta-kun 3456755 >># Sweet! Goood job, /f/riend!
>> [_] ta-kun 3456756 >># >change your pc's time to before the timebomb >try ruffle >try it offline (and possibly with other players)
>> [_] Anon 3456757 https://www.adobe.com/support/flashplaye r/debug_downloads.html Just get the Projector of here, Works fine For Viewing a flash before downloading it, Uses Firefoxes "View file" instead of downloading it
>> [_] ta-kun 3456759 >># Didn't know about the firefox thing. Thank you for the heads up.
>> [_] Anon 3456760 >># As im technically illiterate Ill just ask, Does the projector from the link have the timebomb code you mentioned? Its the 13th here and I have no issue but idk if thats just becuase my timezone
>> [_] Anon 3456761 >># Wait im an idiot, sorry I keep losing track of days with all this covid stuff. Hopefully you know what i mean though
>> [_] Anon 3456762 >># I use
chrome
which has flash built in. Am I supposed to be able to uninstall the version built into the browser? I still cannot view flash content on chrome, although opening things on the separate flash player still works fine.
>> [_] Anon 3456763 >># I'm retarded, how do you use 'view file' in firefox?
>> [_] Anon 3456764 >># When you save a file in Firefox (Idk which version added this feature but the most recent update has it) A Box with two options will open, The Default should be "View With..." and from there chose the Flash Projector and launch it
>> [_] Anon 3456766 >># Well it doesn't show up for my version, and I keep it up to date. Maybe it's because it's the mac version. (Told you I was retarded)
>> [_] Anon 3456767 >># Might be a Windows Exclusive feature then sadly
>> [_] Anon 3456768 Am I going crazy or did you guys also lose entire save data from your flash games? the games still run outside the browser using adobe flash player but all associated save data just seemed to have disappeared
>> [_] ta-kun 3456769 >># Save is tied to browser. If you want your old save data you have to revert your pc time(it's a simple setting, its harmless). Some games allow you to have a save password, you can revert the time, go to the sites, get the password and punch it into your pc copy. Also, any big MMOs in flash like dragonfable generally have the data saved on a server somewhere, meaning the game should be fine
>> [_] Anon 3456775 lmao I havent updated basilisk since 13 or 14 months ago. yall should have seen this coming and done the same, keeping an old browser around without updates. but thanks for helping newfriends ta-kun
>> [_] ta-kun 3456781 >># Your'e right, old flash and old browser would be a perfect solution. I'll do that one too. What's the latest version of basilisk that doesn't mind flash? Seniority is overrated, I'd take any title that has friend in it. Thank you for the heads up.
>> [_] Anon 3456782 >># I just downloaded it myself after seeing this post, it works perfectly for me. Embed works as well
>> [_] Anon 3456784 >># Nice, was checking for my version when saw this. Thanks for the info.
>> [_] ta-kun 3456785 >># Basilisk doesn't have the timebomb at all? Even on the current version? Unless I understood you wrong and you found an older version.
>> [_] Anon 3456787 >># The current version of pale moon works, will now be using it as my /f/ browser.
>> [_] Anon 3456788 >># ok, got all back and working thanks to that link. Thank you anon. I was more annoyed by flash activeX stopping working (affects flash decompilers), than browser plugin. At least I wont have to hex edit or change clock now.
>> [_] Anon 3456790 They could just show a stub with the insecure text ... But no, they will decide for the user! Stupid Adobe!
>> [_] Anon 3456799 >># anon you're fucking awesome!(≧y≦*)
>> [_] Anon 3456800 What plugin to install on Chrome 49.0.2623.112, Windows XP? flashplayer32_0r0_363_winpep.exe didn't work.
>> [_] Anon 3456804 remember, flash is here forever, just like you.
>> [_] ta-kun 3456805 >># I haven't been to /g/ in a while, how has the open source win xp project going?
>> [_] Anon 3456814 >># >open source win xp project yo what? could i get a tl;dr on that? cause that sounds goddamn interesting.
>> [_] ta-kun 3456815 >># The winXP source code was leaked sometimes mid 2020. /g/ was picking at it for a while. There isn't a thread up right now, not sure what happened with it.
>> [_] Anon 3456817 >># >># decreasing interest, fewer and fewer threads. https://rentry.co/centralizer-threads
>> [_] Anon 3456818 >># thanks anon you are a lifesaver
>> [_] Anon 3456823 I thought the average 4chan user was the type to never update software? I have 4yo win 10 and flash that works fine.
>> [_] ta-kun 3456824 >># To be fair, to do anything of value with the source code of an OS takes a long time and isn't very spectacular to be around. The threads early on were fuled by the leak and the what if, it is to be expected actual woek wouldn't have nearly as much people.
>> [_] Anon 3456826 Since we're metaposting, here's some python code to download all the flash files on the archive I wrote a while back: pastebin com/HStTfmeM
>> [_] Anon 3456829 >># and, double posting, an offline viewer for SWF files http://www.swffileplayer.com/
>> [_] Anon 3456831 >># last time i tried it with the latest flash without the EOL I couldn't run any of them. Not saying it doesn't work, just saying that I had some trouble with it and you might too. (but please prove me wrong)
>> [_] Anon 3456832 >># can confirm that the kill switch is gone after downgrading.
>> [_] Anon 3456833 >># Question how do into flash to deactivate the updates?
>> [_] Anon 3456834 >># No, you're right. The swffileplayer link doesn't work. How lame. I bit the bullet and downloaded the standalone ruffle player. Thankfully I don't care about any flash content after AS3, but this sucks donkey dick. My z0r videos, eddsworld and homestarrunner still works, so I'm happy.
>> [_] Anon 3456835 >># Deactivate update service. FlashPlayerUpdateService.exe or something. If you have fancy taskmanager like Process Hacker, you can do it there in the Service tab.
>> [_] ta-kun 3456836 >># Ruffle has quite the backing and support. It is not gonna be long until it can do as3 properly and do all the blending modes and effects.
>> [_] Anon 3456837 >># It runs pretty slow compared to regular plugin/SA player.
>> [_] Anon 3456839 >># alright do i delete that file or what? i don't have it in the service thingy of my task menager (granted i didn't install Process Hacker.)
>> [_] Anon 3456840 >># delete or rename
>> [_] ta-kun 3456841 >># I don't know much about it, but I think they are gonna keep at it until it is as good as possible. Btw, sorry to be rude, but do you guys like my spinning yotsuba?
>> [_] Anon 3456842 >># yea she do good spiiiiiiiiiiin who made it? you?

[_] Yotsuba Sticky Commemorative anime ta-kun 3432349 I've animated a yotsuba to commemorate the special thread >>>/a/205000000 Thank you for the good times. This is my first time drawing yotsuba, I'm proud especially with how the first frame looks. The motion and frames aren't perfectly to my liking, but I'm still happy with what turned out. I need to work on consistency and I didn't manage to capture quite the arc I was going for. Still, really happy with this, and I hope you had a nice day. Remember to love life just as much as yotsuba Marked for deletion (old).
