Transporting it from the fertile plains where it is grown to the arid lands where people hunger entails considerable expenses in resources and waste. A perishable good, it quickly molds in transit. In some localities, the local despots are inclined to seize it and use it as leverage over the people. Fed long enough, starving people will reproduce and make more starving people, compounding the problem. Over time, the demand would likely outstrip our ability to grow sufficient food on a limited supply of arable land. Like most engineering problems, fixing one issue almost always involves introducing new and equally unpleasant issues. The primary flaw of the Zeitgeist Movement is it pretends it can fix these problems with no trade-offs. This is not the nature of our universe.
