Their algorithms actually give preferential treatment based on minutes of video watched and frequency of uploads. This means that someone like Pewdiepie, who puts out a fuckhuge number of videos on a weekly basis, is going to get their videos pushed on the front page a hell of a lot more than your average Flash animator. In fact, looking at YouTube right now, I can only see two animations; the rest is a combination of music videos, music "videos", game footage and LPs, a series of recorded D&D sessions, a channel to do with firearms YouTube thinks I want to subscribe to, and because I live in Britbongistan, the Rugby World Cup. If I were an animator looking to put my work out their, YouTube would not be my first choice for hosting content.
