Need help from the Touhoufags: I've decided to play the games, get myself involved in the
fanbase, after seeing fanarts, flash files, etc everywhere. Downloaded EoSD, but text won't
appear on Main Menu, controls DO work, I can start Level 1, hear the sounds, but the screen
freezes at the Loading screen. It's been patched already, am I still doing something wrong here?

So...you mean everything works except the graphics and text? Are you sure it's updated?

i wouldn't suggest using the wikia, it's pretty outdated.
en.touhouwiki.net generally works better

ftr, I've never used jpn locale for any of my touhou games and have run into zero problems.

Locale is required for the unicoded programs and most unofficial projects

the Locale is required for installing, not necessarily running the games. Pre-packaged ones work
fine and don't require switching the localization.
Though, the only unofficial games I've tried like that so far has been Megamari and the
Touhouvania games.
My only guess is OP did try to do an install without the localization swap.
