Jojo is NOT a random appearance at all.
To trigger him, you need 25 corruption.
Then you will sometimes bump into him until you reach 15 corruption.
After some meditations with him(not sure how many), you can ask him if he wants to go to your
camp making meditation hell easier to do.

Actually if you lose to Jojo during a fight, he reduces your corruption and he leaves a letter
saying he would meditate with you again, only if you didn't corrupt him too much
