It's always a bit creepy when people have ideas that seem silly at the time... but look where we
are now.

This guy was way ahead of his time as far as entertainment goes
Maybe he'll end up right about the cities, too?

Maybe, but think about the reasons why he was able to predict future innovations that seemed
unfeasible at the time.
It's because he had a clear idea of where the needs of human society were in the context of a
finite world. You operate on a set of basic, fundamental assumptions and you are able to
extrapolate them to all innovations.
-minimizing use of resources
-minimizing use of space
-maximizing speed of transportation
-maximizing speed of communication
-maximizing durability / minimizing maintenance requirements (sort of fits into the first point)
-simplifying daily tasks and minimizing work in general
-maximizing access to pleasurable activities
With the right fundamental framework of ideas, you should be able to predict the future of
civilization given the present state of humanity
.
Even when he was alive, the communications technologies existed for what he was proposing in
entertainment.
