Thanks for letting me know, I hadn't noticed yet. I'll get right on adapting to the new layout.

Alright that ought to hold it, unless they make more changes of course.

The thread format on /f/ is now recognized by the system but the layout is still a bit borked with
lots of line breaks in the header of each post. I'll look at that later since it's getting pretty
late over here. Actually, it's not even late anymore, more like 'early'. Was on my way to bed when
I saw this thread.

So /f/ finally got a layout change after all these years... Really mupped it up haven't they? It'll
take a while getting used to. Feels odd how much space the No. and Date columns take up on the
listing page. And Size, Tag and Replies. That space could be put to better use.

But strangest is how the tag now blends into the title of a thread and it appears as the full name
of the tag and not just for example [J]. Should at least surround the tag name with brackets inside
the thread so it is distinguishable from the title.

A new "Porn" tag was added, but the old "Hentai" tag remains. Won't that just confuse things? I
guess "porn" is meant for non-drawn porn but people will still think of "hentai" as any kind of
porn. And "hentai" is definitely porn per definition of the word porn. Surely tags like "Music" and
"Animation" would have been much better to add.

They could have made the OP text preview strings longer while they were at changing the layout.
That would have been useful. And filesizes could have been shown as MiB instead of KB (saves column
space). Sage replies could have been made not to count towards the number of replies. They should
definately fix how their system renames uploaded flash files (if for example a comma is in the file
name 4chan will rename the file to include a HTML-encoded comma: ,). The average user won't
notice it but it's pretty odd in my book. Better to keep the file name as it is and just
HTML-encode the name inside the html document.

It also seems like the flash files that are marked for deletion are no longer getting their row
highlighted in the flash list. I'll miss that. Even if it is a bit strange to highlight a dying
thread it felt nice to get a grip about the rotation of the content as soon as you landed on the
list.

They should allow more than 30 files on the board, maybe 50 would be a good number. Threads tend to
die within 24 hours as it is right now, I can't count the number of times someone has said or asked
something that I would like to reply to but can't because the thread 404'd an hour or three ago. A
system for keeping threads with many replies longer than those with 0 replies would be neat as
well, I don't think there is one right now. A new flash tends to always kill the oldest one even
though there are an almost-as-old thread with much less replies on the board.

The biggest issue still remains on /f/: The low upload file size limit.

It should be increased to at least 16 MiB. Eight just doesn't cut it anymore, it's been too little
for years. Just imagine how many good flashes we've missed on /f/ just because they were one or two
MiB too big. I've been thinking about doing a little campain concerning this to get moot to
increase the limit, perhaps now's a good time to do it with the layout change. There seems to be a
lot of people that don't approve of the layout change but I don't think anyone will complain if the
file size limit is increased. It'd be a nice counterweight for those displeased with the current
changes.

Thought I'd document how the new layout on /f/ looks right now.

Unfortunately I don't have a screenshot of the old /f/ layout. Might have one on another computer
somewhere. If anyone has a screenshot of how /f/ looked before please attach it in this thread.

Most of what you said has been thrown into the mod's thread.
The file size limit is probably the only thing that remains (low).
Still, they are making changes to the layout.

I only seem to have this partial screen. Sorry, its the best I could find.

Looks like they are fixing the layout on /f/ a little as I type, good good.

I found an old screenshot of how /f/ used to look. It was taken in 2007 but /f/ looked the same up
until now so it might as well have been taken last week, same layout.

Hah, you posted that message while I was typing mine.

Ironically the file size limit is the thing that needs most fixing on /f/, yet it is the one thing
that most likely won't be fixed. It's not like it will flood their servers much if they do increase
it since /f/ don't have near the same traffic as the boards where images are uploaded.

I just hope that they won't make it possible to post swf files inside of threads on /f/, I don't
like that very much. Better to focus on one file per thread. I doubt they'd do something like that
so I'm not worried.

Btw the quality of your screenshot turned out pretty low, guess the fault is the auto-shrink of
attachments to less or equal to 75 KiB. I suppose I should increase it to at least 150 KiB. (The
reason of the auto-shrink is because attachments are never deleted even after the thread has 404'd,
so that the images are still viewable in archived threads on swfchan.net.)

>> MackanZoor!///SWFAnts #ADMIN# 11jun2012(mo)15:12 No.3716 SWF P8

The archived threads should look OK now.

The file size limit of /f/ was increased to 10 MiB! Unfortunately not more, ten should have been
done years ago. But we should be glad it was increased at all, it makes it possible to see a lot of
new flash files. Though it still makes it impossible to post thousands of good flash files since
the limit is still too low.

And luckily the layout was fixed on /f/, now it looks alright. But they should have skipped the
coloring of every second row, makes it harder to see highlighted old threads.
