It is still supposedly a work in progress. The author's site for this project had a long gap
between updates starting at Jan 3rd which made many people think it was abandoned. However, a
relatively recent update on July 29th had rekindled hope with the informed. As of now, the most
recent update has been on Aug 12th.

I can see the reasons people dislike it. I like vocaloid stuff personally, provided the held out
tones don't last longer than a second or so.
Most of the time no one tries to slew down or up the three steps in whatever scale they're
writing in so it doesn't go tinny sounding.
