sorry, maybe you should look the terms up again. a Plebian is any free person (not a slave) who
owns sufficient assets (land and other assets) to be counted on the Roman census.
while Plebians aren't of the upper class, they were free, and could become wealthy and powerful
in their own right.
on the other hand a proletariat literally had nothing. they were often slaves. proletariat comes
from proles (children). these people had literally no wealth or assets aside from their
offspring. they were not counted on the census. the Roman government did not officially count
them as people.
what you're thinking of, however, is Karl Marx's idea of the proletariat working class. which is
not what i was referring to.
