By the traces it looks like a shoujo, but the story is what it looks like in the flash? Normally
shoujos doesn't involve things like death, magical disappearance maybe, but not death properly
said and done.

shoujo is when the anime is made for girls, and shonen is for boys. josei is for women, seinem is
for men. there is also kodomo, when it is for kids.
If it is for all audiences, then it doesnt have a special classification.
If you want to classify it, then just say it is a tragedy, drama, romance, comedy(I didn't
watched penguindrum, but it looks something like this by the flash).

i know and the amv is misleading there's no action and not as much drama as there seems to be,
that's why i'm saying a twisted kind of slice of life, a bit like welcome to the NHK, it loosely
follows a story and it's mostly crazyness except here there's a lot less comedy
