There are three levels of anime fan. New fans watch action animes like DBZ, Kenshin, Yu Yu
Hakusho, etc. They're mostly there for the action, and watch animes in English. Their tastes are
unrefined, but there's nothing wrong with that.
Seasoned fans tend to watch these as well as animes with more drama, sometimes even romantic,
silly animes like kissxsis, and prefer to watch animes in japanese with english subtitles. Some
even go far as to learn Japanese to make this easier. These people are okay.
Then you have your typical weeabo. These people don't actually speak Japanese, but constantly use
terms like "animu", "waifu", "otaku", "kawaii", "neko", and other stuff everybody knows but
nobody should ever use in English. They bash every anime they don't like, and the only shows they
watch are about prepubescent schoolgirls.
That last group is what kind of anime this is.

>defining an anime after it's fanbase
I, with the utmost sincerity, hold in the highest regards the expectation that you fine gentlemen
do not partake in such actions.

this is a great anime and there is no levels of being a "anime fan". you're making yourself look
ridiculous there are many different genres and you have to try something before you go bash the
shit out of it .
>They bash every anime they don't like
I guess you're the typical weeaboo then.
good day sir.

If you can get over the fact that it blatantly lies to you, then yes, it can be enjoyable.
It will apruptly halt a developing plotline to have a bald man suplex a deer.

Yes, if you're into dry surrealist humor.

Sadly, this is a pretty accurate description. Not everybody watching Nichijou is a level 20
weeaboo, but I don't think many casual anime fans are watching it either.

So basically what you're describing there is "shounen" and "shoujou" -- shows for 14 year old
boys and girls. A lot of that gets brought over here because 14 year olds are pretty much a
universal constant.
You should look for anime in the "seinen" and "josei" categories -- that's young adult to adult.
Seinen is geared towards men, and still tends towards the edgy/sexual, but there are some gems
like Planetes. Josei is geared towards women, and it tends to be where you find most of the
seriously emotional stuff. (I'm personally a sucker for josei)
I would actually recommend Planetes as not just a good anime, but a damn good sci-fi series as
well. Solid plot, good characters, and the fascinating but familiar setting of near earth space.
