It gives you +1 statpoint per level every time you do a Rebirth.
I haven't yet played for more rebirths but one, but that's what I've learned on the internets.
I don't know if there's any upper limit on rebirths.
The whole point of this game is just getting levelups. It's pure genious. I don't know if I
should be sad or excited about this, but it really does work as some kind of postmodern piece of
art and commentary on the state of many today's games.
You must not succumb to this game, just keep it running on background and come back to it
occasionally to fiddle around a bit, then leaving it run again.

Could anyone give me an idea of how much XP you need for a mastery level? I've sunk like 200,000
into it and the bar is still only at one pixel.

Something like billion or so.
And it grows exponentially towards higher mastery levels.

The trick is to first get shitload of overflow exp, 200000 stat points so you can buy 20
hardcoreness which gives you "enlightenment" special move. Then, if you have enough shitload of
overflow exp, you can get millions and billions of stat points, and start raping all the stats
and at some point spam "master slice" special move which takes 50 hardcoreness points (500000
stat points) a pop, and that lets you crush through mastery levels.[/spoiler]

The ideal stat distribution is 2 points of rage, 1 neetery per level. IIRC master slice fills the
current mastery level 10%, so wait until the last mastery level to start using it. Also
