I love how, even though he's an actor, you can feel that he's not acting when he delivers that
speech.

this speech is at the very end of the movie and the rest isn't so serious. It's a good "Chaplin"
comedy worth a watch.

............. when only this can we...........amen.

Why did I cry? Because there has always been men that think like this but they have all failed
because others simply just don't care?

Charlie Chaplan was a filthy whoremonger who would sexually assault his co-actors. He's hardly an
authority on human morals.

True, but this speech is so good. I love this monologue not him.

So what? All "great people" that stand out in our history are still merely human. Few (if any)
have ever lived a life free from hypocrisy. That doesn't disqualify their suggestions.
One of the ideals behind anonymous posting is that we can avoid falling into the trap of judging
the speaker instead of the message. On leddit or other more traditional, persistent-identity
forums, you'd have someone digging through your post history to point out how you can't think X
now because a year ago you thought Y.
Chaplin's speech is a rousing one because it appeals to ideals that he (and you and I) couldn't
quite reach. Yet it's important that his performance can inspire people to aim high in spite of
their human tendency to fall short.

Ghandi is hardly a paragon of Kindness. Nigger went on a hunger strike to protest politicians
trying to integrate untouchables into Indian society.
