As someone who's seen plenty of shit, let me say this. Anime is now engineered to where you can
crank out less effort and get more money.
These days, you can make a 13 episode harem action series based in a school that looks cool but
has no substance and be on the top 20 sellers of the season.
Angst sells because it's easy to selfinsert, and easy to mistake for characyer development.
Fanservice sells because sex always has and will sell.
Moe, AKA cute girls doing cute shit sells because people eat that shit up.
Why take a risk developing quality when I can be safe and pander to otaku and make my anime just
like their visual novels?
