Steam's DRM is pretty unobtrusive, and it's lightweight. Beyond that, it helps to reduce the
number of trolling shits, cheaters and hackers who want to piss all over your online experience.

I don't think it's because he's paranoid. My guess is that he's bothered by the aspect that you
can't resell or lend your games the way steam handles it.
