Discovered flash files: 2 File: BulletForTheGuy.swf-(5.6 MB, 960x396, Loop) [_] EMBED Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:02 No.2017310 You can now embed flashes on /f/? Wow, first new feature on /f/ in... years. Upon years! I hope the coder reads this... two requests: Marked for deletion (old). >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:04 No.2017312 Make every link to a swf file have the query string of the post sent to it! For example: http://images.4channel.org/f/src/springbreak.swf Would become: http://images.4channel.org/f/src/springbreak.swf?2017288 This will get the same file but with an important difference... Why? Because of CloudFlare. Very, VERY often people are getting a cached previously uploaded flash file of the same name. This is why in the comments some people are commenting on two different flashes. >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:04 No.2017313 For example: Person A uploads lolicatgirls.swf on a Thursday. Person B uploads lolicatgirls.swf the next Friday. These two lolicatgirls.swf are DIFFERENT however some people on Friday will still get the cached lolicatgirs.swf flash that person A uploaded the day before. By sending a querystring to the flash you will make CloudFlare cache the two uploaded lolicatgirls.swf differently. Because people would request lolicatgirls.swf?8713 and lolicatgirls.swf?8829, finally not the same file in the eyes of CloudFlare! This creates NO PROBLEMS what so ever, when people try to save the file their browser will auto strip away the querystring so it doesn't rename the flash files. >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:05 No.2017317 >>2017312 Nod need for this. CloudFlare cache is getting invalidated properly now. >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:07 No.2017318 ... You can? >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:08 No.2017319 The second request: Restore the old subject behaviour! Before, if you didn't enter a Subject on your upload the comment of the upload would be previewed instead on the main page of /f/. Nowadays, for some reason, you have changed it so that if there is no Subject there will be NO text preview. This is stupid and needs to be changed back. It's the reason why there are so many empty rows on /f/ and it didn't use to be like this. It makes PERFECT sense to preview the comment if there is no subject written, please change it back like it was before. >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:09 No.2017322 Oh also, might as well ask that longer comments can be made on /f/ per post. It's just silly that we have to split up our replies into several posts like I'm forced to do right now. Sometimes it looks good sure, but mostly it's just annoying to not be able to say everything you want to say in one go and have to create "continued" posts. >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:10 No.2017323 >>2017322 Yo dude, just make a /q/ thread, Post the link when you do >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:11 No.2017324 >>2017317 >Nod need for this. I guess you mean, "this is no longer needed"? If that is true it's good but I doubt it is. I saw people discussing the wrong flash in a thread very recently. Confirmed that they talked about the wrong flash by using the querystring trick myself. >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:13 No.2017328 >>2017323 Yeah I've been on /q/ before and nobody listened to me. Considering how new the change to /f/ is this thread SHOULD be spotted by the coder. If you want to you are more than welcome to copy what I've written into /q/. >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:23 No.2017340 Also... this is a long shot but I'm wishing so might as well wish more: Here's how I wished threads disappeared on /f/: If there are 30 or less threads on /f/ no thread is deleted. There can be an unlimited amount of threads however if there are over 30 the system will clean away threads that are MORE than 24 hours old. Threads with the lowest number of replies are deleted first. However if a thread is over 48 hours old it is deleted first (to rotate content and allow popular flashes to finally die, prevents threads to get 9999 replies). >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:23 No.2017342 This system would: + Make sure all flashes has the same chance to be spotted (up for at least 24 hours). + A sudden flood of posted flashes won't bump away awesome flashes that didn't really get a chance to get discovered. + Unpopular 0 reply flashes are removed first, allowing popular flashes to be discussed for another 24 hours. It's a long shot but it would make /f/ better. Especially since I think /f/ is moving a little too fast recently, some flashes are up just a couple of hours before being bumped up (compared to the average of 12 hours a year ago or so). >> [_] Not done yet Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:28 No.2017346 Just thought of something with the new embed on the main /f/ list. Make it so that you can drag around the embedded flash and make it so that it doesn't close if you click outside it. That way you can still open the thread of the flash while watching the embed, or look for the next embed to click while still listening to the already loaded loop. Would make the new embed feature more enjoyable. >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)19:35 No.2017359 Oh also, maybe switch place of [Reply] and [Embed]? It feels really weird not to click the link furthest to the right to get to the flash's thread. >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)20:25 No.2017413 No feedback huh? >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)20:25 No.2017414 >>2017359 If it is to be moved it should be moved to the left of the flashes' titles, that will feel a lot more comfortable/natural. >> [_] Anonymous 06/26/13(Wed)21:09 No.2017450 >>2017414 Or maybe a small [E] right next to the link that leads to the swf file? For this thread it is like this right now: [BulletForTheGuy] Could be: [BulletForTheGuy] [E] Doubt the mods are reading this thread though, as usual our needs fall on deaf ears. |
