imo it's getting a good synchronization between visuals and the music, as well as choosing decent

I won't deny that the majority of AMVs are mediocre, because those ones are made by regular
people with regular levels of talent and inspiration.
The really good ones, though, they permanently alter your relationship with either the song or
the series. One is used to reinterpret the other.
