I really tried reading the manga. I really did. It just continued to be so cringeworthy chapter
after chapter though that I couldn't bring myself to keep reading this shit.
If it didn't seem like the writer was content to maintain the status quo, maybe I would have kept
following this.

It's supposed to be cringeworthy. She's not supposed to really improve. The brief moments of
happiness are only there to make the next crash more excruciating.
That said she's still a bit better than she was before. She sometimes talks to the girl next to
her in class and she is at least noticed by her classmates now, for better or for worse.

And I guess that works for some people, but I see those sorts of characters and internally root
for them to succeed, so I guess this series just isn't for me. Maybe I'll look into it again when

isn't all that weird from that perspective.
