People said the cell phone would be impossible, too. They listed this and that limitation and
reason why it wouldn't exist. And yet some guy found a way to make it all work.
Give it time. It will become real in the end and we'll laugh at how trivial it was to make.
>> [_] Anonymous 11/17/13(Sun)03:26 No.2183546
theoretically it's an amazing thing that anyone who likes the idea of interchangeable parts has
probably thought of in one way or another. Realistically we probably aren't ready for this
technologically. still neat though.

Key word is time. As in, like the video effectively said "In time, we could do this, but for now,
don't waste your money".

the guy in the video himself said "it could happen in time". also anyone who talks about how
"trivial" a cellphone is, is only looking at it from either a consumer or manufacturer
standpoint. that shit even in the shittier cellphones, is insane technology.

motorola is working on this
>> [_] Anonymous 11/17/13(Sun)03:32 No.2183556
This is what happens when designers are left without supervision from engineers.
>> [_] Anonymous 11/17/13(Sun)03:33 No.2183558
Motorola's taken up the thing, and labeled it Project Ara. They seem to have the same sort of
idea as a PC -- Plug this thing into that one, and we'll bring everything together. Although from
the picture Motorola released, it looks like they won't be doing a full out board like the
original concept, but just a few slots of different sizes. Still, pretty much the same.

hey, it's good to let concept creators run wild every now and then. from the shit they make you
can start thinking of other ideas that are more plausible. Hell, they may even think up something
that can work.
>> [_] Anonymous 11/17/13(Sun)03:37 No.2183565

Good to know. Did they give any word on if this is still proof of concept or not?
>> [_] Anonymous 11/17/13(Sun)03:38 No.2183567
Besides that it sound impossible, it is actually a great concept.

this anon is right
we can build on this topic
though its still improbable (for now), even the greatest flights of fancy need to take stern
reality check before we throw money at the guys kickstarter.

Probably the most succinct explanation available as to why phoneblocks won't be a thing for the
foreseeable future. I have no idea why that video got so many dislikes. Must have been the
butthurt masses.

Possibly from people who backed the project, buyers remorse and all that.
