Sage posts don't bump the thread to the top of the queue; this is evident by a little
experimentation. The sage tag which once appeared is also now invisible to discourage
sage-bombing and other sage related behaviours. The point is that you don't want to prolong the
thread's life. At one point, it was considered to sage when your post was off-topic, as a
politeness. This is no longer done, but, it is one of the old uses of sage.
However, declaring your post as a sage, as >>2153767 has, is adequate reason for a minor ban,
though I've rarely seen it enforced.
Please read the rules and faq you are quoting before referencing them. I, among others, would
consider it a courtesy.
