necessary. Russia was building thousands of airstrips and factories along the russian/german
border. Thats why hitlers invasion was so successful to begin with - the first 100kms or so
destroyed half of the russians industry

Union - being Belorussia and Ukraine. Stalin had already begun dissembling and shipping his
factories east of the Urals - most of the Soviet industry during the war was out of reach of the
Nazis. Lend Lease also came through Persia and up through Central Asia - again out of the reach
of the Nazis supplying the Soviets with much needed trucks and other equipment. Hitler couldn't
hope to out produce the soviet union with most of their industry in tact and out of reach behind
the Ural Mountains.
