Stupid question: How do you guys convert a video file to a .swf?

Well, SWFs internally use the FLV file format. Simply wrapping an FLV file in an SWF isn't that
hard, but the problem is that most FLV encoders do a crappy job and the result is unplayable. I
am not sure, but I think that the latest version of FFMPEG might be able to do it properly, but I
haven't tried it yet. Of course, if you have Adobe Flash or an alternative program (I'd be
checking Wikipedia) you can simply drag a video onto the stage and have the program automatically
convert it somehow. If all else fails, there is a program called Xilisoft SWF Converter 6, which
is shareware and does an OK job.

If it's just a video file, and there's no modifications to be made to it, you can just use FFMPEG
for it.
