My buddy pointed out that during their breakdown, you can hear their actual hands slapping their
  knees. I can't unhear it. I can't stop laughing.

As off the wall and tongue in cheek as this is. How did this not spark outrage?

From what I have read this is NAS and Nick Cannon. Besides the clearcut comedic nature of this.
How did this not become a career ruiner?

They're black, they can use as many black stereotypes as they want.

Of course white people made all of those stereotypes so its sort of like he's plagiarizing years
of hard work on our part.

Look at the full video on youtube. It's prefaced with an institutional critique of the music
industry for rappers saying that the original culture of it is being diluted and whored out by
the higher up beneficiaries who orchestrate a lot of the music and public image of the more
popular rap artists who peddle the pre-made, artless, racist and sexist buffoonery to which most
people have in their heads when they imagine rap. In reality, to a socially conscious person this
is relatively tame compared to what they are satirizing.

  Fair enough

The tongue in cheek thing and the fact they were already black must be it.

But how is that any different than say how Paula Deen lost her empire for a story of her
N-bombing someone during a bank robbery (which I would say is a fair reason to retort an N-bomb)
from long before she was ever a celeb?
