Making my own music-with-an-image swf, how do?
I have no flash knowledge, but making a video then converting it to a .swf seems to cause issues
such as the sound clipping now and then and general loss of quality.

Adobe flash studio could do it easily since you would just make a standard flash animation.
I don't have access to it so the one time I had to do this I needed to seek out a swf converter
that suppported importing images. It was a much sloppier way of doing it because it still needed
to be converted to video and I had to dedicate data to a video stream. And there is a good chance
the keyframe gets lost during playback and you get a blurry picture for a while.
