An anonymous poster cannot become "popular on the internet" because nothing they post can be
attributed to them, for they are anonymous. At best they can create a meme or trend that is
popular, but they themselves never become popular or benefit personally in any way from their
posts.

What about the anonymous that use a screenname?
They may not technically be anonymous, but still manage to hide their true identity.
