  If memory serves correct, the band decided they didn't want to do music videos anymore. So some
  animator guy came along and made this animation for the song, and probably the album, too.

  Presumably, it was done with the band's record label's consent (Because bands under a record
  label don't own the songs they make, the record label company does).
