I didn't see the movie. And I just finished reading chapter 11 of the original.

the satire expressed is the whole childs appeal shown in the flash when in fact, watchmen is a
graphic novel, not intended for children. when most see it they would assume it to be a comic
book and that it would be all happy and amazing and saving everyone, when the whole series is
about how harsh life and humanity in general can be.

Well, part of it is that.
But more specifically:
The cartoon is, "accurately inaccurate." For instance, it shows rorschach being really friendly
to the dogs...when in the comic, he splits the head open of a dog. It's just satire of how
cartoons are often quite the opposite of how the comic books write the characters. A very tongue
in cheek joke is when the comedian, edward blake, says, "IF I COULD ONLY GET THAT KISS!" about
the silk spectre. The reality, of course being, that he is the silk spectre's dad, and he raped
her mom. Very clever satire.
