Basically, Hasbro fucked us over in the season three finale of MLP:FiM by turning Twilight
Sparkle into an alicorn. This pisses people off because not only does this upset the species
ratio of the main six character (two ponies, two pegasi, and two unicorns), but also it is
implied across the show and the fandom that alicorns are gods, thus making Twilight a Mary Sue.

Of course it doesn't have any deep plot points. The majority of the episodes are so unrelated to
one another that, aside from the two-parters and a few exceptions, you could literally watch the
entire series out of order and more or less get the same experience as if you watched it in order.
