Surprisingly, it looks like he's technically correct. I just checked wikipedia quick, and it
looks like being Jewish (either ethnic or religious) isn't a requirement for citizenship. I would
assume it helps your application, though.
75% of the population of Israel identifies as Jewish, about 17% as Muslim and 2% as Christian. So
it's the only Jewish-majority country in the world, but every fourth person living there (not
necessarily all of them citizens) is a non-Jew. That was news to me.
