In my experience, victory is about being able to isolate yourself geographically then gain power.
If you're in the middle of a bunch of fuckers you're out of luck, but if you have like a whole
peninsula to yourself then you'll either win or be second.

I've found that out myself. That's why I usually picks maps with a peninsula or 3 and hope I can
take those before it gets to the endgame. But even that won't help you if the game keeps giving
you rolls like 20 while the enemy keeps getting rolls of 30 and above
