This cuts out a good brunt of it.
Not sure the link, but the jist is, prior to the flash, he fishes up a fish who convinces him to
let him go. Then he summons "Eckt" on accident, and explains his plight of having no food. Eckt
offers the table, with the stipulation he'll be back at midnight with a trial, failure being...
some bad consequence, don't remember. When he does show, the fish the man previously caught and
let go, shows up to save him by essentially driving Eckt away with fast-speaking word play.
tl;dr: One good turn deserves another.
