The game puts 1 hero soul in the bank every time you lvl up your heros a total of 2000 times (ie
2000=1 hero soul, 4000=2 hero souls, etc). There are also bosses starting at lvl 100 which give
you heros souls in your bank.
In order to use the hero souls, you need to ascend your world (or start the world over again) by
using the ability that you get from Amenhotep.
You use the Hero Souls to purchase Ancients who give you absolutely bonkers bonuses. For example,
I have a lvl 5 Ancient that currently gives me 125% bonus DPS if I'm idle for over 60 seconds.

ascending resets the game back to level 1, but grants you hero souls based on total hero level

hero's souls give 10% bonus dps (stack linearly) and can be used to buy/upgrade ancients who have
a variety of effects
hero souls, purchased ancients, and achievements are not reset by ascending
i don't have a copy of it, just play on the site, its free and you get updates automatically

you have the option to ascend once Amenhotep is at lvl 150, I would recommend getting as far as
you can before ascending, though. Once passed lvl 100, each tenth boss (110, 120, 130, etc) give
you a special "gilded" skin for a random hero which gives them a 50% increase in their DPS.
i got to lvl 139 before I ascended the first time, then I broke the wall to lvl 140 on my second
trip through.
