That's how they're trained.
For example: I saw another video of a guy getting shot for seemingly no reason. He was wielding a
knife, yes. He was also in the middle of a street in broad daylight and surrounded by several
officers. No way he could have pulled anything. He started to pretty casually approach one of the
officers who had a gun pointed at him, who then shot him when he got within 20 feet of him. Why?
That particular precinct is trained to shoot people who are a threat if they get within 20 feet
of you.
It also doesn't help that most cops seem to be cowardly, power-hungry, former-high-school-bullies
that probably have all sorts of daddy issues, etc.
That's why it looks like it's fucked from the bottom up, because it is.

All cops have stun-guns, but stun-guns suck.
They're wildly inaccurate, have a very limited range, and aren't as effective as you think. A 9mm
to the heart is much more effective than a shock, and in a life or death situation (like someone

You've probably never fired a gun in your life, let alone at a moving target. Center mass moves
less than the extremities, making it more likely for the bullets to hit their intended target and
less likely to continue to fly into the background and potentially maim/wound/kill someone
completely uninvolved. "Shoot him in the leg" people also tend to forget how easy it is to bleed
out with the kind of trauma done to a person by a bullet. Pair this with the fact that even shots
through people's chest cavity sometimes do not incapacitate people immediately, especially when
they're on drugs and you start to see why they're trained to shoot for center mass. If you're
going to use a lethal weapon against a person, use lethal force, don't try to just scare a
person. If you want to disable or deter, use a baton, Taser, CS spray, or something like that,
but as soon as a firearm comes into play, it's very likely someone is going to die.

Exactly. Don't carry it if you're not going to use it, the 1st rule of a gunfight is to not get
into a gunfight, and the 2nd is to actually have your gun. This is to say you should try to
remove yourself from the situation altogether, but be armed and willing to use your weapon if it
comes down to it. Cops aren't usually given the option of removing themselves from the situation
(even though they have no obligation to defend someone else's life) so, they tend to be involved
in more shootings and when they're trained (typically less than your average concealed carrier)
they're told to use force aggressively.

Not saying any other accounts are less valid because at times like this a million versions of the
story circulates, but I heard that when there was a struggle through the officer's car window,
the officer fired and hit Brown in the arm, then he ran. Then, the officer got out of the car and
shot Brown fatally while he was running from the vehicle. That's how I heard it from NYT. Based
on this account, couldn't the cop have stopped shooting after Brown started running? I can
understand shooting while under assault but the assault ended after he hit the first shot. He
ended the life-threatening situation so wouldn't he no longer need to use his gun?
