Territorial animals even without training can attack, especially if they feel the "pack" is in
danger. Even if the officers are in swat gear, that doesn't change the fact that it was an
aggressive animal that threatened them during a SWAT action. Every police force in the country,
most military forces around the world, and a great many normal citizens, if confronted by an
angry dog, would not hesitate. The dog is unfortunate, but a human death permitted to save its
life would have been a tragedy and a severe dereliction of duty to their fellow officers and
community.

Animals basically have the right to live until they threaten the life of a human. You don't need
to know you have a right to have it. If they had no rights, you could kill any dog without
repercussions.

But they don't have rights. The right falls upon the owner of the dog. "Shit, I paid X amount of
money for that dog, it's worth Y, amount, you owe me Z." The dog has no right to live, but the
owner has the right to sue for damage of property. (Unless, of course, you're criminal scum, and
are being raided by the SWAT.)
