it's a challenge, some people like that, it's supposed to be difficult and unforgiving.
Charming artstyle that fits the atmoshpere and an awesome narrator complement the game well.

The game really punishes you for enjoying it.

I could accept food becoming inedible, but why do keys, bandages, unlit torches, medicine, or
anything else HAVE to be discarded?
"Rng, fucking EVERYWHERE!" Chance to hit, chance to dodge, chance to resist, chance to surprise,
chance to randomly step on a trap, chance to die when zero HP. Won't even talk about the problems
with getting critical hit and killed by status effects on the first turn just because the enemy
was lucky enough to get a preemptive strike.
"Members refuse to fight dungeons below their level" Party refuses to play safe in the early
dungeons, only to get killed in the tougher dungeons. I can't afford to give my guys proper gear
for their level because they refuse to grind for resources.
tl;dr Game is badass, but it'll make lesser men ragequit.

Sorry, not much space for text here. The reason why most people like the game is because
thematically the game is pretty cool. The art, story, and narration are sick and the characters
you play with are varied and can have numerous customizable personality quirks that give them
interesting stat bonuses.
At least that's what keeps bringing me back everytime I quit after one of my fuckers gets
faceraped by bullshit.
