Some code optimization and framerate changes later and it runs a lot smoother in the default
mode, save for a random stuttering issue.

If I can get pixel bender working with CS3 I'll port it to that.

woah, you're here. do you have mp3s of jerram's album? i can't stop listening to it.

Refresh the page; I just made it pay what you want, like the other albums.

  >you're the artist

well that's kind of awkward. thanks a lot though! good flash as well.

>> [_] Rubber NAND 02/15/15(Sun)18:27 No.2689874

  >>2689866
  Thanks.
At this point it's easier just to make payment optional and have another copy out there than to
  actually do proper marketing.

>> [_] Anonymous 02/15/15(Sun)18:36 No.2689877

Nice. Much smoother now. I'll bet the random stutter is GC. Probably not much you can do about
that except for going through and making sure you're not allocating new objects in your main loop.

I've only got a few local integers for storing parts of the math in the update function, but I'll
see if it improves if I take them out.

>> [_] Anonymous 02/15/15(Sun)19:11 No.2689899

Help! My CPU can't handle this! Any tips?

>> [_] Anonymous 02/15/15(Sun)19:13 No.2689900

do you have a transparent gif of this i could use? also if you made this music where can i get it?

>> [_] Rubber NAND 02/15/15(Sun)19:20 No.2689906

  >>2689894
Well, I took every single var declaration out of the loop but it's still stuttering once in a
  while.

  >>2689899
If you click that option it'll halve the particle count. Also, keeping your mouse out of the
stage area prevents it from doing the most intensive math (2D distance-based repulsion) so that
  might help some.
  >>2689900
I don't think Flash can do transparent backgrounds. Even if it could, it's procedurally generated
and randomized, so a gif of it wouldn't loop properly.
For the music, right click and choose "Bandcamp"

>> [_] Anonymous 02/15/15(Sun)19:48 No.2689929

you are a very smart person on graphics and this anon, keep up the good work!

>> [_] Rubber NAND 02/15/15(Sun)20:50 No.2689981

Further investigation has revealed that the actual positioning math takes a miniscule amount of
time compared to drawing the particles on the screen. Flash must just not like drawing that many
things (>5000) on screen at a time.
