haven't seen the movies because Evangelion sucks ass but might watch it for the visuals looks

I watched the first and second movie recently and found the sound design to be very pleasing as
well as the visual effects. Plus, since they were movies and a lot of content had to be packed in
as opposed to spread out, I see it as being what the anime would have been if they didn't stall
really hard on everything.
I recommend watching the first one at least just to see the first fight scene with that
shape-shifting diamond-esque angel.

Okay, so to clarify, it's not really much of a 'fight' scene anyway since Shinji doesn't really
end up fighting at all on account of being boiled alive in his cockpit.
Also, the movies seem to take a different path as far as story goes. Not much can be seen
regarding this for the first movie but at the end of the second, you can definitely see that
things are going down differently.

I read the description for it and it sounded interesting. Is it one of those situations where a
person tries to change their story to make it interesting in concept but it ends up being stupid
in its execution?
