>> [_] Anon 2110216 Don't know if it will work, but I'd totally be down for a phone that can be upgraded one component at a time like a PC.
>> [_] Anon 2110218 too many big-time companies would lose money if this were a thing. it would NEVER happen, at least in america
>> [_] Anon 2110219 I know this is basically just an ad, but I really hope this things comes out. I also hope I can afford it when it comes.
>> [_] Anon 2110223 >># >trolling anyone who knows anything about EE >being this successful
>> [_] Anon 2110224 viral marketing
>> [_] Anon 2110229 Oh god the design flaws! This made me laugh OP, thank you
>> [_] Anon 2110238 >># Such as?
>> [_] Anon 2110242 By this guy's logic you should still be using the same pc tower and mobo for 1999
>> [_] Anon 2110245 It makes it sound easier than it probably would be. Cool idea though.
>> [_] Anon 2110247 BLOKS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT 11 BONG
>> [_] Anon 2110249 did you just fucking repost this shit after it was up three hours ago fuck off
>> [_] Anon 2110264 >># Not remotely what the idea is about.
>> [_] Anon 2110267 It can be done. Not with the simple description showed in the video, but with something more PCI-like, it is very possible. Anyone remember cartridge CPU's?
>> [_] Anon 2110275 Won't work. - Cell phones require a minimum of 3 antennae that have to be distributed around the edge and cannot interfere with each other, so you couldn't put your cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth blocks anywhere you want. - Different components use different data buses. For example, cameras use MIPI buses, most sensors use I2C, etc. You would need a lot more than 4 pins per block to represent all the necessary buses in all block locations. - Many blocks are currently combined onto the same chip. And the entire motherboard is much smaller that the related blocks in the video. Breaking up those into separate blocks would add size and cost.
>> [_] Anon 2110284 >># Communication speeds between parts would be shit with a four pin out system like that, and would continue being shit until you get into the SMT style connections. Driver installation for new parts would be a nightmare depending on what gets switched out. The compactness of modern phones is largely due to how specifically layed out the part design is, something modular like this would end up being very bulky. Even with a removable outer case having components that can be easily removed would make the phone far less durable than any other phone on the market. The idea of being able to put one component where another one should be is definitely not as simple as this man makes it out to be. All in all this is just like nearly every other design school idea out there. It sounds nice, and isn't entirely impossible, but there is no way in hell the finished product would be even close to practical enough to compete with the bargain brand market equivalent.
>> [_] Anon 2110303 Companies will work together lol'd
>> [_] Anon 2110322 >># No, it would be the idea of buying the computer and eventually you're left with nothing but the case, because you upgraded everything else. Like saying you had an awesome car back in the day with none of the original parts except the shell.
>> [_] Anon 2110342 seems to have enough interest https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/2931 -phonebloks
>> [_] Anon 2110350 There have already been many threads on /g/ about this. This type of design is infeasible.
>> [_] Anon 2110351 >># I still use my PC case, power supply, and speakers from a 1994 Packard Bell. The keyboard is also still functional but pre-dates carpel tunnel awareness in terms of ergonomics. The 200mb HDD also works, though I have updated for obvious reasons. Do you have a particular reason why those parts require updating?
>> [_] Anon 2110373 ENOUGH WITH THIS SHIT ALREADY IT. WILL. NOT. WORK. END OF FUCKING STORY.
>> [_] Anon 2110375 such a quick repost. OP is gay
>> [_] Anon 2110382 >># sounds nice, but it will never work, specially since technology is always changing, cell phones didn't had the same layout 10 or 20 years ago, and the current cellphone layout will definitely change in the short future. I rather have companies figure out how to do more recycle efficient products than waste money on this.
>> [_] Anon 2110397 >># aww, its cute that you think your blind opinion is worth something
>> [_] Anon 2110419 this is brilliant, why hasn't any one thought of this before?
>> [_] Anon 2110420 shit i thought i was first like an hour ago and tagged it 'viral marketing' were the fuk is my post, sage doesn't work on /f/?
>> [_] Anon 2110422 I thought it wasn't possible to post a flash more than once in 24 hours. Every goddamn time I try to post Papers, please.swf, it tells me I have to wait longer before I post it again (even if I haven't posted it in like two fucking weeks)
>> [_] Anon 2110427 >># Someone doesn't know what saging actually does. Welcome to 4chan.
>> [_] Anon 2110446 >># As of late, it doesn't work on /b/ either. Go ahead. Try.
