Why would this have been banned?
>> [_] Anonymous 05/25/15(Mon)22:28 No.2791989
maybe because they thought it would encourage people to use laughing gas.

So how much percentage of nitrous does it take to start getting a high?
At what point does it start becoming lethal?

>So how much percentage of nitrous does it take to start getting a high?
According to erowid, a single breathe is enough for a 15 to 30 minute high

NO2 is completely nontoxic (it is nitrogen and oxygen after all, the same stuff in the air). It
displaces oxygen though -- at less than 19.5% oxygen you will asphyxiate, so 80.5%.

yup. that's a fleischer brothers cartoon alright.
creepy even when they're trying to be cutesy.
In other news, somebody needs to cut this right about where the clock starts, and remove any
shots of the gas propagating so its just things growing mouths and bursting into laughter, and
convert it to a gif named "Oh wait, you were serious?"

normal air is 21. the rest is mostly nitrogen.
you need 20% to breathe.
So unless you're breathing straight oxygen with your nitrous oxide, you'll suffocate if more than
1 percent is laughing gas for an extended period.
the higher that percentage removed, the longer it'll take to oxygen starve you, of course.
Also, sodium and chlorine are "the same stuff that's in salt" but both will kill you. So don't
make that assumption on things like you did with air. You're correct this time, but its not a
good generalization.

Except that's fundamentally different. Table salt is a sodium and chlorine COMPOUND. Air is
literally just a mixture of Oxygen, Nitrogen, and a few other molecules

Salt is toxic. Not as much as sodium or chlorine, but it'll still kill you if you eat a brick of
it.

N2O is a compound, like NaCl. His analogy is correct, though as >>2792087, salt is toxic.

Okay, but EVERYTHING is toxic if you eat enough. WATER is toxic if you eat enough.
sola dosis facit venenum
Normal amounts of salt is a necessary bodily intake for electrolyte purposes. Not enough of it
and you get Hyponatremia and start having seizures and stuff because of your nerves not working
right and you get too much water in your brain.
Which is why too much water, proportionate to your amount of salt, is also a toxic thing.
