My dad did some programming for Boeing back in the day (in Fortran, around 1980, if I remember
correctly). He entered his program and data on punch cards, which were queued up (by people) and
run when the computers were available. A DAY LATER he would get his results back. A syntax error
would waste an entire day. After hearing that, I've never felt the need to complain about any
programming environment.
