Brotherhood actually follows the manga and is a masterpiece.
I made the mistake of watching the other one first too.

Brotherhood is shockingly good seeing as from the exterior it's your typical 50+ episode shounen
staring a kid fighting the world. Like it's amazing.

Brotherhood was so good because it followed the manga.
The manga had well developed scar, greed and the has the entire other country that seemed to go
unmentioned in the remake.
Most shounen have 2 or more groups of people they follow or people get sick of the main group
hell even avatar TLA had zuko and Iroh take up half the episodes.
