Why hasn't /r9k/ been deleted yet?

Marked for deletion (old).

I vaguely remember the old /r9k/ before it became a clubhouse for fuckups and anti-normies.

It was a really mild board, nothing much was there material wise. It was empty like /sci/ and
forgotten like our /f/. Before being deleted and reintroduced, I wonder how sub-boards change
that much. Who finds these places and makes it their "hangout"? What goes on, through all the
posts that ultimately creates the culture and spirit of it?

  Strange.

I imagine it probably evolved from the need to post "original content." Blogging stuff is
obviously easy to come up with, so people just gravitated towards talking about their lives and
then you've got a feedback loop until it turns into what it is now.

  I kinda miss classic r9k.

Had to look up who was singing this.

Of course it was Filthy Frank.

  I don't understand that guy.

I liked /r9k/ because there was no board subject. You could talk about anything and people did
talk about everything, the randomness of the board resulted in some of the most interesting
discussions I've seen on 4chan. Sort of like /b/ but filled with more mature people. It started
turning to shit with the creation of boards like /lit/ and /sci/, the more intelligent posters
went there and all that was left in /r9k/ was the social and relationship threads. I'm pretty
sure moot created /adv/ and /soc/ in an attempt to return /r9k/ to its original state but all
that did was strip more from it and all that was left was bitter hatred and self-loathing. I got
  the fuck out in 2010.
