The idea is that the soft subtitles make at least possible to read. It will naturally work better for shorter video streams. Ten minute streams like this are pushing it beyond the idea's usefulness, but it will be great for two or three minute shorts and things like that. The other episodes of the Kyousougiga OVAs are only about 5 minutes long, for instance.
