Simple, the media outlets, nearly all of them, are owned by 4 major company conglomerates.

As a company with a product needs to advertise, the media is a prime candidate for getting this
done en masse and on the cheap.

Advertising is defined as providing incentive to purchase a product through one of various
methods. Bandwagon-mentality, jealousy, or inducing a feeling of inferiority for not possessing
  the item being advertised.

This tactic forces the companies to continually bombard the veiwers of these advertisments.
Needless to say, the company needs to be competitive. Influencing their bias to one brand or
another. This causes stratification, or classing, based entirely on brand selection. For an
example, look no further than fashion-based cliques.

TL;DR: The companies want your money, and will subtley brainwash you to get it.

This makes no sense. If you sold yourself to someone then the money is useless to you anyway. It
  is completely illogical.

Also, it may or may not be Zeitgeist related, but it does fall within their scope of idealology.

People sell themselves all the time.

Any job is essentially a trade of time/effort for currency.

  My bad.

Or to further simplify, this is what we are to the corporate entity; packages of a given value.
As a result, we are treated by these organizations with the same respect and regard as a stock
  option.

This is not Zeitgeist shit. This is the direct result of corporations being permitted to take
legal and ethical responsibility for individual decisions, coupled with human greed. Hence,
  'amoralist' corporate values.

As a matter of fact, yes, you do have a price. For example, the airline industry considers a
certain number of fatalities per year to be an acceptable trade-off for reduction in profit loss
through the recommended aircraft maintenance schedule.

Never knew about the airline tidbit.

Keeping my feet on Terra Firma until some sweeping changes are made. Thanks, Bro. :)

To be fair, it's still safer to fly across the nation than to drive. Still, it's a little peek
  inside the corporate headspace.
