As a NEET who recently got a job, I can confirm that having a job you don't like for the sole
purpose of "contributing to society" will not make you feel any better about yourself.
Don't let others judge the worth of your life, just because they are working in a dead end job
making slightly above minimum wage and you aren't.

  I also confirm this fact.

If you want some real advice, do something you love. Don't let the idea of what it will make you
change the fact you love it and are proud of your work. By simply repeating a task such as art,
music making, or even story writing, you will grow in skill, and your self confidence will
improve when people look positively upon your achivements.

Hell if you don't have any 'talents' there's no reason you can't apply for an easy job like steam
moderation to gain the income for you to enjoy life and see the world at your own pace.

Don't let society change you for the sake of fitting in. Change when you know you are worth more
  than you currently are.

  Stay strong /f/riends.

The fact that people still can't understand the concept of the ever growing technology that
continues to become more engaging and fascinating makes me worried. There's problems when
somebody doesn't work or have any friends or social life, but it's not exactly the computer
that's the problem, it's what the persons grown into thinking what the computer is for: an escape

shit I work, talk with friends, and majority of my time game online, I get tired of some of my
friends real life because of constant, annoying flaws they tend to have. Maybe I just need new
  friends probably.

Don't let people judge your life. It's a common trait for humans to place themselves above on
another. As long as your self independant and can support yourself alone or with a roommate to
cover bills, I don't see why somebody would think your worthless.

At the end of the day you're just another nobody within the vast population of people working as
a wage slave, good on you!

The "work ethic" mentality is pretty much voluntary slavery. Working for it's own sake is
borderline insane, but believing that you do can be a necessary lie. Some people spend enormous
amounts of energy investing in that idea so they don't have to come to grips with the fact that
they spend most of their life doing something they don't enjoy in order to survive. Yes,
contributing to one's community is worthwhile, but that's not why anyone works where they work or
why they do what they do (barring exceptions like extremely dedicated doctors or firemen or
  whatnot).

The simple fact is that if one one had to work to survive, most people wouldn't. NEETism is a
terrible way to live for other reasons, but the lack of contribution or a lifestyle of doing as
one pleases isn't the unhealthy thing about it. It's just what our society obsesses over as a
  method of maximizing productivity.

You have to lower your standards and make friends with the shitstains that happen to be local to
you. Literally strike up a conversation with whomever you happen to stand next to for more than
20 seconds and see if your personalities click enough that you don't want to strangle the bastard.

The internet has spoiled us with loads of friends with common interests, outlooks and
personalities. We get to choose from the (mostly first) world population for people we like. It
turns out that when you reduce the pool of those people available by a few orders of magnitude,
you have to learn to make friends with douchebags, retards and general assholes.

Welcome to living in the "real" world. Isn't it lovely?

The idea isn't that you get a job for the sake of having a job, you're supposed to get a job you
actually enjoy. That's when you can start getting the feelings of contributing to society and all
  that.

“Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car
that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and

We will never "Contribute to society". We merely do work for which we get paid. Artists,

Individually that is the best course of action, but it's a sad fact that that's not going to work
out for everyone. There are plenty of jobs that no one enjoys (trashman, burgerflipper, etc, etc)
and are simply done because they're paid. Interestingly enough, those are the jobs that everyone
at entry level gets shunted into. They also *barely* cover the cost of sustenance these days. Not
the cost of living, mind you, just rent, bills and food. And we need it that way for now.

The sad fact of the matter is that if people all did what they enjoyed instead of what paid, we
would all die of disease, assuming that we're lucky enough not to die of thirst and starvation in
the case that someone didn't simply kill us.

Our society runs off of everyone attempting to escape as much suffering as possible, and it's
getting harder and harder to do so. The job market is going to suck in the short term and
collapse in the long term, making it a fairly futile endeavor for someone who's not already
invested in it. Honestly, I think NEETs should take as many autismbux as they can and enjoy the
ride while it lasts, because the best road for self improvement doesn't lie with tying yourself
  to a system that's dying.

Please don't do this. Sure, it won't help you at all, and in fact it will be painful, but you
have to do it because other people are in need. If you leech of the system then the people who
really need it won't have it anymore. I have a job and I don't necessarily hate the job, but I'm
not on the internet and it sucks. I'm someone who doesn't have much in common with other people
and I'm not going to lower my standards of friends just to have them. Still, I do it because I
don't want other people suffering because of my inability to work.

  >implying maximizing societal productivity is rewarding or satisfying
When was the last time you looked at roadwork and sighed in satisfaction? While on a macroscale
it's useful, the problem is that on an existential scale it leads to an outlook that is
subservient at best and crushingly empty at worst.

A society is a group of individuals. It's a common failing that leaders think the key word is
  "group" and not "individuals".

We're doing pretty well in terms of quality of life, but we could be doing ridiculously better.
  That's my concern.

One of the darkly humorous aspects of our society is that we live in an age of doomed decadence.
We've past the point of no return when it comes to our national debt. It's no longer an "if" of
our economy folding in on itself, it's a "when",

The reason we're in such dire straights is because we're a debt based fiat economy. Condensing
six months of study into a phrase, this means that autismbux, system leeching, debt eating, etc.
means that no one is suffering (more than we will anyhow) by someone taking from the system. It's
seriously a matter of doing whatever the fuck we want until someone takes exception to it with
  military force.

Ultimately it boils down to the fact that we coerce non-nulclear powers into selling their
resources at cut rates and the fact that we're using what is probably the most loosely controlled
fiat currency in the history of human beings.

So go ahead, leech off of that system. You're just tallying up a meaningless number that's
already doomed our grandchildren anyhow. Can't kill what's already dead and so on.
