I dont quite get why people use those things if you can achieve the same with a fucking
programmable keyboard.

I don't get why people find these so entertaining when it's basically just tapping out a random
beat on the table except with lights and random soundbites instead of fingers rapping.

I imagine the visual and tactile feedback make it easier to play.
Also, these things painlessly plug directly into any DAW you can think of via USB-to-MIDI
connectors, whereas you might have trouble setting up programmable keyboards if your DAW doesn't
support them.

It's pushing random combinations of buttons to a beat... it's already as easy as it can get

the song is already a song, they carry out that song by the specific sounds in order, theyre not
just hitting it at random lmao

Well, a matrix of buttons is a programmable keyboard, so its not a dichotomy. So I think what you
are really asking is 'why dont people just use a piano keyboard with white and black keys in a
row'? And the answer is because that is a totally arbitrary arrangement of buttons if you are
playing samples, or beats. Having matrix means you can fit more buttons into a single space, and
since you arent committed some some horizontal arrangement of tones, it makes sense that your
hardware wouldnt reflect that. For anyone who actually wants to program their own hardware, the
ideal hardware is as neutral as possible.
