Key the Metal Idol >> [_] Anonymous 09/11/15(Fri)14:41:20 No.2901135 I love the look of mid-90s anime. Detailed, stylish, sophisticated, with frame rates that felt appropriate for each type of action. Modern anime is so CGI heavy and the characters are all otaku fetish material. What happened, I wonder? >> [_] Anonymous 09/11/15(Fri)14:44:40 No.2901138 I thought it was good. That hand drawn super detailed shit looks great but didn't move well and the colors were hard to get consistent when dealing with multiple animators too. The digital process allows for faster creation of more fluid gook toons, but the bigger problem with anime Today is that it, like most media, shys away from really violent stuff to try and please a larger market. The other problem is that most animation techniques these days are simply TOO clean. A lot of the other shows and movies are kind of dirty looking and messy, but it blends together to make the overall art style gritty and rough even when it is detailed. Still, you get the occasional odd duck that fucking nails the old aesthetic with modern techniques. The last Harlock movie for example made the Arcadia fucking terrifying. |
